Peer Educators and adult staff work collaboratively to put on a series of community events to promote teen health throughout the course of the year. The events vary in the topic areas, but in general consist of performances from our performance and arts-based groups as well as an open mic session in which guests and community members can perform or discuss issues of teen health or development. The community events put on by the SAFE program are often linked to larger campaigns around youth involvement in HIV prevention. Most community events put on by SAFE offer on-site HIV testing, as well as promoting other community organizations that offer teen health services.
