What Is It Like Getting Tested For Sexually Transmitted Infections?

All that is required for a full STI screening (gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, herpes, and Hep B) is a urine and blood sample. For an oraquick HIV test, all that is required is an oral swab to get your result in 20 minutes.

When Will I Get My Results?

Typically the STI test results take 2 weeks to come back. The clinic follows the “no news is good news” policy. This mean that if your test results come back negative (meaning that you don’t have an STI), then the doctor will not contact you. If your test results come back positive (meaning that you do have an STI) then the doctor will contact you and ask for you to come back to the clinic. It’s very important that you follow up with the appointment because an untreated STI cause very serious health problems.
